Apple Announces iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max

Teknoku.me – Apple officially launched its newest iPhone line at a launch event titled “Hi, Speed” which was held virtually, Tuesday (13/10/2020) at 10 am local time (PDT).

Continuing the previous generation, also in line with rumors, this latest iPhone was officially released under the name iPhone 12.

There are four iPhone variants launched by Apple for 2020, namely the “regular” iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 mini.

The four iPhones are compactly powered by the company’s strongest chipset, the Apple A14 Bionic, which is already equipped with 5G support.

“We have arrived at a new era. Today, we are bringing 5G support for the first time to the iPhone lineup,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook on the virtual event stage.

“5G connectivity can provide better network performance, be it for streaming high-quality videos, responsive gaming experiences with low latency levels, and much more,” added Tim.

By design, the front of the four iPhone 12s relies on a screen with a Super Retina XDR OLED type panel.

The top part is also decorated with a wide notch, typical of Apple, which has accompanied users since the iPhone X. This module contains a selfie camera and a sensor that functions as a Face ID biometric system.

Because there is still a notch, the appearance of the fourth iPhone 12 at a glance is the same as the previous generation, namely the trio of the iPhone 11.

The difference lies in the cellphone frame which now looks squared, not rounded, similar to the frame design of the iPhone 4, iPhone 5, and iPhone SE (2016), and iPad Pro and iPad Air 2020.

In terms of durability, the four iPhone 12s are coated with a ceramic protective glass which is claimed to be four times stronger than ordinary glass.

The four iPhones are also equipped with IP68 certification and are claimed to be strong underwater with a depth of six meters for 30 minutes.

Although there are some similarities, the four new iPhones are actually different, both in terms of screen size, rear appearance, and specifications.

iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12

iPhone 12 mini are the first iPhone variants to have “mini” frills. As the name suggests, the screen of this phone is the smallest compared to the three “brothers”, namely with a diagonal of 5.4 inches.

On its back, there are two cameras housed in a square module, consisting of a 12 MP main camera (f / 1.6, wide) and a 12 MP ultrawide camera (f / 2.4, a field of view 120 degrees).

Photography supporting features include Night Mode which now, for the first time on the iPhone 12, supports all cameras, be it selfie cameras, main cameras, or ultrawide cameras.

The iPhone 12 mini comes in three variants of internal memory, namely 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. There are five colors to choose from, namely Black, White, PRODUCT (Red), Blue, and Green.

The iPhone 12 is equipped with almost the same specifications as the iPhone 12 mini. It’s just that, the screen size is slightly larger, which is 6.1 inches.

iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max

The screen size of the iPhone 12 Pro is actually the same as the “regular” variant, which is 6.1 inches. However, the back design of this cellphone is different because it is equipped with three cameras housed in a square module, including a 12 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a 12 MP telephoto camera.

The camera on the iPhone 12 Pro now supports a variety of powerful features, such as Apple ProRAW which can produce high-quality RAW images, as well as support for 4K 60 fps video recording and Dolby Vision HDR recording mode.

Also, this camera line is also accompanied by a scanner sensor that first debuted on the 2020 iPad Pro, namely the LiDAR Scanner.

This sensor has the ability to scan 3D objects that the camera is aiming at, along with distances from other objects, accurately and smoothly.

The iPhone 12 Pro itself comes in three variants of internal memory, namely 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. There are four colors to choose from, namely Graphite, Silver, Gold, and Pacific Blue.

So what about the iPhone 12 Pro Max? The top variant of the iPhone 12 is actually equipped with specifications that are almost identical to the iPhone 12 Pro. The only difference lies in the slightly larger screen, which is 6.7 inches.
