Google Duo Made Permanently on the Samsung Galaxy S20

TEKNOKU.me – In the Galaxy Unpacked event which was held in the city of San Francisco, the United States, Tuesday (02/11/2020), Samsung announced its newest collaboration with technology giant Google.

Through this collaboration, Samsung will integrate features in the Google Duo video conversation application in the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip systems. That is, users can enjoy various Duo features without having to open the associated application.

“Google Duo will be directly integrated with the contact application, telephone (dialer), and SMS,” said the Head of U.S. Samsung Electronics Mobile Channel Marketing, David Park, on the stage of Galaxy Unpacked.

Later, there will be a “Duo” icon that can be clicked to directly make video calls from a number of the system applications mentioned earlier.

In the dialer application, for example, users simply type in the phone number they want to go to and then click on the “Duo” icon to directly make a video call.

Uniquely, not just “sticking” to the system, the Duo service will also be able to utilize the camera hardware embedded in the cell phone to make video calls from various camera modes.

For example, Galaxy S20 users can use an ultrawide camera to make video calls in landscape mode.

That way, users can “enter” more people in one frame because the actual video range will be wider.

Not to forget, the quality of video calls on the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip can also be boosted up to Full HD resolution, so the images shown do not look dotted.

Nevertheless, both Google and Samsung did not provide information when these various Google Duo features can be used directly on the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip.

It’s also unclear whether this feature will be available on other Galaxy devices or not.
