Sega Releases Tiny Game Gear Micro Console

TEKNOKU.me – In order to celebrate its 60th birthday this year, the game console company, Sega will re-release its old retro console, Game Gear Micro.

The first presentation in the 1990s, Game Gear Micro has been predicted as a competitor of Nintendo’s Game Boy. Nevertheless, the 8-bit console failed to rival the popularity of Game Boy.

Game Gear Micro is a tiny sized console. Dimensions are 80mm x 43mm x 20mm. This console is also equipped with a 1.15-inch widescreen, mono speaker, and a headphone jack.

To support the power requirements of the console, Sega provides two options, namely through a USB connector or by inserting two AAA batteries.

Sega plans to release Game Gear Micro in four color variants namely black, blue, yellow, and red. Each variant has different pre-installed games.

In the black variant, for example, there are games that consist of Sonic the Hedgehog, Puyo Puyo 2, OutRun, and Royal Stone. While the blue variant will bring the game Sonic Chaos, Gunstar Heroes, Sylvan Tale, and Baku Baku Animal.

Especially for the yellow variant, this retro console will be equipped with Nazopuyo Aruru no Ru and three Shining Force game series consisting of Shining Force Gaiden: Ensei – Jashin no Kuni he, Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya, and Shining Force Gaiden: Final Shining Force Conflict.

Finally, the red variant comes with Revelations: The Demon Slayer, Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special, The GG Shinobi, and Columns.

One Game Gear Micro console has a tag of 4,980 Yen or equivalent to 45 USD.

Game Gear Micro also comes in a package that was purchased at 27,255 Yen or around 250 USD. This bundle package contains four consoles that come in different color variants accompanied by Big Window magnifying glass accessories.

Sega plans to release Game Gear Micro in Japan on October 6, 2020. Nevertheless, there is no definitive news about the availability of this tiny console for the global market.
