TEKNOKU.me – In the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak, several technology companies in China continue to boost manufacturing and production processes. Though the Chinese government has ordered that all employees be dismissed to avoid the wider spread of the coronavirus.
One company that remains open at this time is Huawei. A Huawei spokeswoman said production for consumer devices and network equipment had continued and proceeded as usual.
Apparently, Huawei resumed operations because there were special exceptions that allowed important industries to continue operating, even though there are currently orders from Chinese authorities to dismiss all work.
A spokesman for Huawei said that most of the products they do are located in Dongguan, a city in southern Guangdong Province, China.
Aside from Huawei, several chipmaker factories also continue to operate amid the coronavirus outbreak. Even Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC), a manufacturer of memory chip manufacturers based in Wuhan, the city of origin of the coronavirus outbreak, said they continued to operate as usual.
“At present, production and operations at YMTC take place normally and regularly,” a YMTC spokesman said in his official statement.
A YMTC spokesman added that none of his factory employees were positively infected by the coronavirus. They have also prepared isolation and partition measures to ensure the safety of their employees.
Meanwhile, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) also continued to operate during the Chinese New Year holiday and continued operations despite the widespread coronavirus outbreak. But they still protect the safety of employees and follow government regulations.
“SMIC must ensure that production plants continue to run 365 days a year and 24 hours a day to meet consumer fabrication needs,” wrote SMIC in its posting on social media.
