WhatsApp Trials the Automatic Erased Similar Telegram Message Feature

TEKNOKU.meĀ – As a chat application that supports communication activities, WhatsApp continues to release the latest features to pamper its users. Recently, WhatsApp is known to be testing a new feature.

The feature is similar to a secret message (secret chat) belonging to the Telegram application. This feature called “Delete Message” allows messages to be deleted automatically over a certain period of time.

This feature is known to have appeared on WhatsApp Beta for Android with version number 2.19.275.

Delete Message, allows messages that have expired to disappear by itself after a specified period of time.

There are several time options that users can choose from, namely one hour, one day, one week, one month, or one year. This feature was actually also tested last October, but with a different name.

Initially, the name of this feature was Disappearing Message.

But it is unclear why WhatsApp later renamed the feature to Delete Message.

Reportedly, the feature is made to make the history of messages on WhatsApp not burdening storage space on the device being used.

With the message feature that can be deleted automatically, it is expected that users will be able to get more storage space.

This auto-deleted message feature reportedly will only be able to be used in group chats, not private chats.

That can only be done by the admin of the WhatsApp group, so this feature will not apply equally to all group chat participants.
