Teknoku.me – Two of Samsung’s new folding phones, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G, have officially launched. Both phones are equipped with several improvements compared to their predecessors, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip, which were released in 2020.
For example, it is equipped with water resistance features with IPX8 certification, using a stronger frame and hinge, Snapdragon 888 chipset, 5G network support, and so on.
Interestingly, in addition to being equipped with several improvements, these two brand-new folding-screen phones are now also priced at a much cheaper price than their predecessors.
Regarding the cheaper price tag for the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3, Samsung also opened up its voice.
Samsung Mobile’s Product Marketing Manager, Verry Octavianus revealed, the question about this much cheaper price tag was indeed asked a lot of people from Samsung.
“Many have asked us, ‘Why is the product good, the price is like this (cheaper)?'” said Verry, at the Local Unpacked Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 event, Thursday (12/8/2021).
According to Verry, one of the main reasons Samsung has priced its two new foldable phones at a more affordable price is because it wants to make foldable devices mainstream.
This is in line with market research conducted by Samsung to its consumers, where, said Verry, most consumers want to experience foldable devices.
“But indeed, one of the problems is, for them, how come this foldable device is expensive, don’t buy it,” said Verry.
Verry said, from there, Samsung wanted to make foldable devices into mainstream phones with lower prices.
Therefore, the global Samsung finally decided to produce mobile phones in sufficient quantity globally. In this way, it is hoped that the cost of production and selling can be reduced.
“What is the goal? So that consumers can feel or enjoy different experiences and lifestyles that are presented from folding phones, either through the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Z Flip 3,” said Verry.
Chip scarcity
However, Samsung Mobile’s Product Marketing Manager, Taufiq Furqan, does not deny that the shortage of semiconductor chip components, which hit the industry globally, could also affect the supply of these two new foldable phones.
“Indeed, the scarcity of global chips has somewhat affected the supply of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. However, we are still trying to provide the best, by the maximum quantity that we can sell to consumers,” said Taufiq, on the same occasion.
He also said that it is arguably one of the top countries selling Samsung foldable phones, globally.
“From there, Samsung was also given the trust to be able to get enough units of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 to sell. So there’s no need to worry,” said Taufiq.
In general, Taufiq explained, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is targeting consumers who need a cellphone to support productivity, however, it is still equipped with a design with the latest technology, which is foldable.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 targets consumers who want to be trendsetters, by having a cellphone with a fresh design, high specifications, and carrying the latest flexible screen technology.
